I spent more time recently studying the Creston History Book, trying to read the history of the Volunteer Fire Dept. Company 43. Guess what ! No info at all. I talked to Bob Cazier to get the history and put in onto my page.... hopefully by mid Jan 2009.
There are memorial bricks located in the Creston community garden around the planter with the birch trees. If you would like to purchase a brick to p ay a lasting tribute to a loved one or a loved pet, please contact Victoria with the Garden Club at 226-7486 and she'll get you the needed info and form. There are probably about 30 bricks already installed. Proceeds are used to improve our little community garden. It is hoped that funds will be raised to install permanent benches and tables over the next few years. After much research, it has been reported that the picnic tables will cost about $1500. Two tables are now sitting under the Sycamore trees, and a new wooden picnic table is next to the redwood trees.
Tuesday, Jan 6th, Women's Club meeting, 7 PM, at the cafeteria/multi-purpose room of the Elementary School. We will review how we did with giving gifts to the kids on Dec 24th. We will plan our International Dinner Fundraiser coming up soon. All ladies in the greater Creston area are always welcome to attend our meetings. Great way to meet your neighbors and make a few friends. I have been active in the club since 1992. Wed, Jan 14th, 3 PM, Friends of he Library meeting at our Creston Library. The book sale was a big success on Dec 11th. President Andy Bouch hopes to raise enough money in 2009 to install the Internet and WiFi connections at our local Library. Please try to attend the meeting if you can. If not, just stop by the Library and Cookie will fill you in. She is a treasure in our town.
